Abstract

This study was attempted to find the present status of Spiritual Nursing education in Korea.
The data were collected with questionaire from September 15 to October 15, 1995.
The questionaire was sent to all of educational units of nursing in Korea at that time (89 units). But the response has come form 59 units(about
56%).
The results were as follows:

1. Educational unit which includes Spirival Nursing as a curriculum for bachelor course was only one, and 4 junior colleges.

6 colleges and 7 junior college took Spiritual Nursing in Liberal subjects, Nursing Seminar, or some of them educated it as a part of major subjects.

2. 11 educational unit wanted to include the Spiritual Nursing in Essential Subject, but 33 unit wanted it as optional.

3. 33 units wanted Spiritual Nursing in Under-graduate but 7 wanted it in Graduate course.

4. Problems:

Lecturing the Spiritual Nursing, problems due to religion was serious problem-conflict

between professors and reluctance of students in part.
Another problem was that no professor was prepared to lecture.
5. Requirements :
The responded asked to provide detailed con-tents for the education of Spiritual Nursing, clinical nursing cases, appropriate textbook and audio visual aids.
In addition they asked to organize a Spiritual Nursing Association so as to promote the academic study positive and actively.
